Inside Bird Rock

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters has been on my radar since I had some beautiful coffee from them during Coffee Fest San Diego back in 2011. But the celebrated micro roaster had been earning fans and respect in the specialty coffee industry since way before that. Owner, buyer, and roaster Chuck Patton has done what so many home roasters dream of doing: he started in 2001 with a home roaster gifted by his wife, Elke, for his birthday, and by 2012, his company was named MicroRoaster of the Year by Roast Magazine.

Bird Rock is up to some interesting stuff these days ”or should we say, even  more  interesting stuff. Look for news about it in future issues of  Barista Magazine. And to learn more about this company and its visionary, check out this lovely film by Matt Ellenbogen.
