Coffee Companies Participate in MyMusicRx Valentine’s Day Fundraiser

Coffee companies to help raise money for MyMusicRx, a healing music program for kids with cancer

Portland, Ore.-based Stumptown Coffee Roasters is playing a big role in a fundraising effort happening tomorrow ”Valentine’s Day ”for Children’s Cancer Association’s  MyMusicRx  program. With the help of Stumptown’s  national sales team and through the leadership of Stumptown VP, Matt Lounsbury, a board member of CCA and catalyst for this campaign, 60 craft businesses across the country  will be donating on Sunday, February 14, to MyMusicRx. Participating coffee companies in the fundraiser include Chrome Yellow Trading Co. in Atlanta, Nossa Familia in Portland, Silkespresso in Gresham, Ore., Sisters Coffee Co. in Portland, and more.

For its part, all Stumptown cafes nationwide will  donate profits on Valentine’s Day to the MyMusicRx program.    In Portland, Stumptown’s cafes will offer a special VooDoo Doughnut for sale, with all proceeds from the doughnuts supporting MyMusicRx.MyMusicRx is an innovative, free-of-charge music program for kids and teens fighting cancer and other serious illnesses. The goal is to use music to soothe and heal. The program began two decades ago when MyMusicRx volunteers began playing music at the  bedsides of children and teens facing cancer and other serious illnesses. Today, MyMusicRx’s  trained specialists engage hospitalized children of all ages and diagnoses,  playing music for and with them to reduce stress, anxiety, and perception of pain.  MyMusicRx.org  extends the experience online with exclusive artist greetings, concerts, music lessons, and curated content from across the web.

Since 1995, MyMusicRx has served nearly 150,000 children along with their families, caregivers, and medical professionals. MyMusicRx digital programs are available daily to 5,000 children in 20 pediatric hospitals across the country and growing.
