Barista Magazine’s Weekly Blog-in-Review Post

Hello and welcome to another installment of BMag Back Atcha our weekly roundup post where you can find links to everything we posted this week on the blog.   Barista Nation Denver is only a couple of weeks away, and we’ve started our coverage in earnest this week. The focus at Barista Nation is going to be on “The Start-Up.” We had a preview post here on Monday.

Barista Nation Denver: Exploring The Start-Up Concept

Besides Barista Nation, one of the coffee events we love to support (and we do love to support a lot of them!) is Caffeine Crawl. Caffeine Crawl visits various cities around the States (and occasionally ventures in Canada), sets up visits to various cool cafés in the city and usually throws in other interesting stops. On Tuesday we had a report of the latest Crawl this one through the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

That brought us to Wednesday  where we like to celebrate the midweek by holding a little trivia contest where one of our lucky readers wins some sweet prizes. This week’s prize came to us via legendary Italian espresso machine manufacturer    La Marzocco and featured a custom messenger bag and sunglasses!

And our winner found out who she was in this follow-up post:

One of the twists at Barista Nation will be a unique throw down. Instead of latte art, people will bring out their best ideas to improve specialty coffee, preparation, service, or anything really that will solve a problem or make something better. It’s going to be really interesting to hear what people come up with!

Barista Nation Denver: The First Ever Idea Throwdown

Friday we had the latest in our “10 Minutes With” series where we sit down for a short Q&A with some of the amazing folks working in our industry, and you get a chance to meet them. This week it was Aaron Jordan a roaster at Roast House Coffee in Spokane, Washington. 10 Minutes With Aaron Jordan

On Saturday we had our third piece from writer Jeremy Martin about Cold Brew. In this installment Jeremy looks at the ever-growing ready-to-go prepackaged segment of the industry. Completely Cold Brew: Part 3 of a series

And that wrapped up our week of work here on the BMag Blog check back next week for more coverage of the latest news, events and people in specialty coffee!
