What’s up, Southeast?

From everything we can tell about the buzz surrounding the Southeast Regional Barista Competition ”which kicks off tomorrow in Atlanta ”is this mutha’s gonna be epic! There are 30–count ’em–30 competitors signed up for this weekend’s Southeast Regional Barista Competition, and they include such heavy hitters as reigning SE Regional Champ, my Brazil-travel-bud Michael Harwood; Mr. MadCap, Trevor Corlett, who took a very respectable 4th Place at the United States Barista Championship last year; and tons of other repeat competitors.

Michael (right) gets a firm handshake from his proud boss, Carrboro Coffee owner and USBC Judging legend Scott Conary, after Michael was announced the 2011 SE Regional Barista Champ.

We wish we could be there to watch the action in person, but we’ll be there in spirit, and via our computer screens as we watch the whole thing unfold live online. See you in the chatroom!
