12 Laila Ghambari, BARISTA, Portland, Oregon. SCORE: 565.5
    congrats

  2. A very rare event indeed, but in Asia, specially South-Eastern part, short courses are offered, whether you are just a hobbyist, or someone who wants to get a job in coffee shop. Cool thing to know that if there are BARTENDING Competitions for alcoholic cocktails, we now have Barista competitions to the World’s famous antioxidant “the Coffee”.

  3. Wow, There is actually someone competing for being a barista. Is it hard to be a barista? What skills are needed? Can working at Starbucks help?

  4. It is surprising to see so many people participating, but with the interest in Coffee at an all-time high it is then understandable that the participation is so intense. . We are always looking for new ideas when we are travelling with what we do with our website http://www.mycover.com.au and through this activity we have had the good fortune to visit many countries and expand our knowledge on the promotion of ideas for a common interest and particularly related to lifestyle and entertainment, which is a key interest for us. Through travel we have met many new friends and by keeping in contact we have been able to gain further knowledge and understanding of what is a very complex and interesting subject. It is a credit to all who have the opportunity to travel worldwide that there is within this a group of dedicated individuals who can take such an interest in such a worthwhile objective such as the common sharing of knowledge for the improvement of Coffee making through these activities. We do appreciate what you have offered by way of ideas and hope these are of interest to our friends and associates also. Best regards, David Brown

  5. @June: why are you asking? Are you going to join with them?
Actually I did not hear about this competition even once! A lot of competition! Very amazing. . .

  6. A while back I trained as a barista at a Costa branch in Cardiff, Wales. I was really surprised how much detail goes into making a really good cup of coffee. I spent one whole year working the on the coffees and I confess I really enjoyed it. I do think it is worthy of a contest and would love to have been at this event.

  7. I am totally amazed there is so much competition for the barista championship. I never even knew there was such a contest actually. I wonder if they have this in the UK where I live?
