The Original TNT Celebrates its 6-Year Anniversary!

Thursday Night Throwdowns ”lovingly referred to as TNTs ”have been a part of our coffee lives for so long now that there are lots of people who don’t even know where they came from. But we have the answer for you today: it was Ben Helfen, then of Octane Coffee and now of Counter Culture Coffee ”both in Atlanta, Georgia ”who got the ball rolling ”or latte pouring ”originally, on March 20, 2008.

Seeing as March 20, 2014, happens to fall on a Thursday, Ben thought it would be fun to celebrate the 6-year anniversary of this historic event with, what else, a TNT? But he wanted to make it bigger and better than ever before ”so that’s what’s going to happen!

Counter Culture, Octane, Barista Mag, and Baratza are proud to sponsor the 6-year anniversary of the Original TNT, on March 20 at the place where it all began: Octane Coffee, 1009-B Marietta St. Sign ups will start at 6 p.m., and it’s first come, first served until all 32 spots are filled. This will be a single elimination, head-to-head style (no redemption bucket).

First prize is going to be a brand new Virtuoso grinder from Baratza ”so awesome! Octane’s also throwing some great prizes into the mix, as is Counter Culture, and Barista Magazine.

If you’re in the ATL area, you are encouraged to come out and join in the festivities! Even if you’re not a latte art master, it’ll be a great party and community building event. Be there!
