Slate: Mobile and Rollin!

The Slate family with the new Airstream cafe
The Slate family with the new Airstream cafe

We’ve been hearing a lot about Slate Coffee over the past few months, and the company that hasn’t even opened it’s official doors yet is already generating a lot of industry buzz, most recently for Slate barista and educator Brandon Paul Weaver winning the Northwest Region’s Brewers Cup in Seattle at the end of January. Brandon will go on to compete at the U.S. Brewer’s Cup held at the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s annual conference in April in Boston.

Another Slate educator,  Timothy Robert Graham, made the finals of the Northwest Regional Barista Competition. That finals placement guarantees Timothy a spot in the United States Barista Championship in Boston in April. It was a pretty big to-do for Slate!

So we’re excited to hear that while we wait for Slate’s proper brick-and-morter outlet to open, the Slatestream has arrived to cover Seattle’s bases. This cafe-on-wheels is a 22-foot Airstream Safari outfitted with a La Marzocco GB/5, two Rober-Es, and plenty of direct sourced Slate coffees.

Parked at the corner of 14th and Madison in Seattle, the Slatestream is open 4 days a week. Check out Slate’s homepage and Facebook page for more details!
