The amazingly talented David Makin, 2006 & 2008 Australian Barista Champ and 2nd place finisher at the 2008 World Barista Championship, is taking a year off from competing. But just because he’s stepping out of the spotlight doesn’t mean he’s not deeply involved in the game.
David, who wowwed judges in Copenhagen with an intense and beautifully executed presentation last June, has been coaching his girlfriend, Zoe Delany, in hopes that this year, she can snag the coveted Australian title. Zoe finished second in the Victorian Heat, and will enter in the Open Heat at the national championship.
